Here's what your donation can do:

$25 funds a field trip for five kids to a dance performance, play, or studio visit with their Art Start artist.
$50 supplies LEGOs to a class of Geared Up students for a trimester of challenging lessons in physical science, math and engineering.
$100 pays for a year-long residency with a Science Alliance scientist, including field trips to the scientist's workplace and supplies for experiments.
$150 covers Architecture Adventure materials and tools for five classes working with architects and designers.
$500 buys equipment and upgrades for a team of middle school Vex Robotics students to design, build and program their robot with help from technology experts.

We aren't funded by taxes or government grants, and our list of corporate underwriters is small. But we are a successful, growing organization because of the generosity of neighbors and friends like you.

Our supporters believe in educational partnerships and hands-on activities that inspire students' love of learning.

Almost all OPEF programs take place during the school day in regular classrooms. This means we reach ALL our public school kids. And you never know which kid will be the one to realize he has a passion for science, or she can lead the class in drumming, or engineering makes perfect sense to him.

For many students, OPEF programs are the only opportunity they have to interact with a scientist, artist, engineer or architect. It's their only opportunity to see Chicago, attend a performance or visit a scientist's lab.

Field trips are on the decline nationwide, but OPEF continues to fund them & encourage teachers to make time for them We believe field trips are among the most meaningful and memorable educational experiences, by connecting learning to real world.
