BASE Camp never really ends in the OPEF offices. If we aren’t running camps, we’re planning for them.

Registration for BASE Camp 2019 will open January 30th at noon. Our full list of 2019 camps can be seen here.

More Camp!

Perhaps the biggest change we’re making to BASE Camp this year is that we’re extending it by one week. BASE Camp will run from June 17-July 19 so that we can bring you a new camp experience the week of July 4th.

From July 1st- July 3rd we’ll be running a full-day mini-week of camp for students in grades 1-6 (as of Fall 2019). Camp will  run from 9am- 3pm all three days. There is no half day option for this week.

During this short week campers in grades 1 to 4 will engage in a range of STEAM activities including improv games, building rocket-powered LEGO vehicles and creating both explosions and textiles. Activities will be separated by age group.

Campers in grades 5 and 6 will choose between two full-day camp options: DIY Entrepreneurs (in partnership with Sugar Beet Schoolhouse) or LEGO Design Studio (in partnership with Unity Temple).

There are no camp offerings for grades 7 and 8 the week of July 1st-July 3rd.

New and Returning Staff

We’re thrilled that so many of our amazing teachers and youth counselors will be returning this year. You can learn more about the teachers who work at BASE Camp here.

Also returning this year are co-directors, Amy Struckmeyer and Angie Hawkins. A former teacher, Angie will serve as Co-Director of Staffing and Curriculum.

A former architect, Amy Struckmeyer has years of professional management and logistics experience. Amy will serve as Co-Director of Operations and Management.

BASE Camp has been fortunate to have both Amy and Angie on staff since 2016.

A Schedule That Works for You

BASE Camp will continue to offer the same flexible schedule you’ve come to know and love, with the exception of our new Maker Mini-Week. Every week choose between a morning or afternoon session, or combine the two for a full-day experience. With before care, after care, and supervised lunch your child can spend as much or as little time at camp as you need.

Flexible Payment Plans and Scholarships

Back by popular demand, our payment plans allow you to put a deposit down on the camp of your choice now, and pay for camp in up to three installments. Scholarships are available for D97 students who receive free or reduced lunch services. Scholarships are awarded on a first- come, first-serve basis.

Locations

This year camps for grades 1 to 6 will take place at Beye Elementary School.

The 7th and 8th grade camps will be based at Brooks Middle School.

We can’t wait to see you at BASE Camp. It’s going to be a great summer!
