While you’re strolling around Oak Park this holiday season, check out the impressive work of District 97 students on display in store windows on the 100 block of North Marion Street.
In the window of Fringe Home Design at 109 N. Marion, replicas of the most famous buildings in the world by Mr. Leban’s Brooks Applied Arts 7th and 8th graders are on display. Under the direction of area architects Drew Nelson, Patrick Loughran, Lauren Hepner, Marc Rogers and Rosanne McGrath, Brooks 7th and 8th graders used traditional architecture tools to create miniature landmarks.
And in the window of William B. Sullivan Real Estate at 107 N. Marion is a dazzling skyline by Longfellow 4th graders, working with art teacher Ms. Raia and Architecture Adventure program coordinator Adrienne McMullen. The Longfellow 4th graders learned about skylines in general and Chicago’s skyline in particular. With giant templates, they used hot, cold or complimentary colors to create the shapes of the 12 most prominent buildings in the skyline.
Thank you to these local businesses for supporting our schools and our students!
