As a part of Architecture Adventure, Beye third graders in Ms. Rajashekar’s class are learning about the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, and the buildings that survived the fire. The architecture that came out of Chicago afterwards changed the way buildings looked all over the world. The students also learned about the post and beam system that allowed for taller skyscrapers. With Tekton kits, the kids were grouped into teams of 4 to build their own skyscraper using the post and beam method.
