Lincoln first graders are busy learning about castle architecture in Ms. Florczak’s art class with Architecture Adventure program coordinator Adrienne McMullen. They are painting a “castle” of their own, which will be installed in the entryway to the school library. Students are also designing their own personal coats of arms to decorate the outside of the castle.
Also in art class, Lincoln third graders are being introduced to onion dome architecture and what makes it unique. Each child is creating an onion dome with foil using using bold lines, shapes and colors to create interesting patterns. Their designs will be translated by embossing onto thin metal sheets and all 100 domes will be incorporated in one large collage.
Look for these displays at Lincoln in the next few weeks. And make sure to check out our slideshow of photos by Eileen Molony.
