Want to put your communication and fundraising experience to work (part-time) for a growing organization that provides innovative enrichment programs to Oak Park’s K-8th grade public school students? The Oak Park Education Foundation (OPEF) is looking for an experienced communicator and fundraiser to lead our nonprofit’s marketing and development efforts. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, creative, personable and organized individual who is passionate about project-based, hands-on education.
This is an hourly staff position for 25 hours/week, 44 weeks/year, based in our Oak Park office. The Communications and Development Director reports to OPEF’s Executive Director.
In addition to excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills and a track record in nonprofit development, candidates must be proficient in social media and Microsoft Office suite. Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required, along with 3-5 years of relevant communications and fundraising experience. Expertise in planning, tracking and improving campaign results, managing budgets, juggling multiple projects, and creating innovative and valuable marketing content is essential.
In the area of communications, the Director will develop and implement a marketing communications plan, write, edit and distribute materials, manage OPEF’s social media presence, work closely with our designer, webmaster and photographers, expand the organization’s local media presence, represent OPEF at school and community functions, develop tracking systems, analyze and improve performance of our communications.
In the development arena, the Director will help develop a fundraising plan, identify and pursue new resources, work with OPEF board, fundraising and event committees, assist with event planning and execution, improve and maintain tracking systems, manage a photo database and write grants.
The Oak Park Education Foundation is a privately funded, non-profit organization bringing experts into K-8th grade classrooms to work hands-on with District 97 students and teachers. OPEF currently runs Architecture Adventure, LEGO-based Geared Up, Science Alliance, Art Start and VEX Robotics, as well as summer BASE Camp.
