As the weather gets colder, we know you’re looking for new ways to keep busy inside the house. Our new Director of Summer Programs has some ideas. Check out her amazing pumpkin explosion!

How many rubber bands do you think it will take for Lindsey to make the pumpkin explode?

After Halloween, why not help the kids in your life try their own pumpkin experiments? Don’t worry, Lindsey assures us that this experiment is much less messy than you’d expect!

Some questions you might want to ask your scientists to think about:
• Can you make a carved pumpkin explode?
• Does it take more or fewer rubber bands if the pumpkin is carved?
• Which explodes first, a pumpkin that’s been out in the cold or one from inside the house?
• Does the difference in bands correlate with the size of the pumpkin or something else?
