OPEF’s Science Alliance partner Craig Hendee from the Middle East Falcon Research Group brought falcons in to Mr. Baker’s 6th grade science classes recently.

Craig’s visit was part an ongoing Mongolian Artificial Nest project in which the students are participating. Craig brought two of his peregrine falcons to give students a chance to see these magnificent birds up close.

Extending beyond their own classroom, Mr. Baker’s science classes are paired up with schools in Mongolia and in Wales. Students from each class share information with their peers in the partnering schools.

Students are introduced to the concepts of conservation efforts, as well as the science behind it. They enjoy a hands-on approach to learning about birds of prey while participating in a project across cultures.
