The 3rd-grade students in Ms. Ryan’s class used LEGOs to make cars, spinning tops and pulleys, a fun and engaging way for them to work together to explore and experiment with simple machines. According to Ms. Ryan, “The projects promoted teamwork, communication, and collaboration between students, who really looked forward to Gretchen’s visits each Monday afternoon.”

Students wrote thank-you notes to Geared Up program coordinator, Gretchen Junker, reporting they, “… had a splendid time,” and “…really liked all the creativity we all put into the LEGOs,” and “…think making gears is amazing, [and] like watching them interlock and spin.”
