Both Brooks and Julian had a very busy weekend in an exciting start to our Competition Season!
Brooks Competitive Club hosted a scrimmage for a few local teams in their Robotics lab. This afforded Brooks an opportunity to test the effectiveness of their robots and experience the challenge of problem-solving under pressure. The robots performed very impressively considering the students only started working on their robots in October.
Julian Competitive Club attended the Cougar Challenge VEX Robotics Tournament at Elm Middle School in Elmwood Park. It was an action-packed day with 3 Julian teams—Deadlocked, Gladiators and Team Neptune—making it all the way to the final elimination round. Deadlocked and Gladiators were on the final winning alliance and qualified for the Illinois VEX Robotics State Championship, which will be held at Julian Middle School on March 4th!
Congratulations to:
Julian Team 7480D, Deadlocked: Jordan Arnold-Anderson, Ethan Gale, Zane Maggio, Joseph Pascarella, Alex Yu, Nathaniel Zittnan
Julian Team 7480G, Gladiators: Ryan Atkinson, Callum Dickel, Andrew Kitzman, Matiss Simitz, Nate Singer, Emmet Szewczyk
After only 8 weeks of designing, building and programming, it was exciting to see these impressive robots from both school in action!
The next competitions for our teams are in January, with Brooks competing in the Domo Arigato Tournament at Heritage in Berwyn and Julian hosting a scrimmage here in Oak Park.
