Mr. Manus stands tall in the face of danger while Dr. Ben Stark demonstrates concepts of air pressure with his famous potato shooter.
“This is the experiment that all of my former students remember,” Mr. Manus told his 4th grade Beye students. Mr. Manus acts as the target for wedges of potato that are pressurized inside of a PVC pipe.
“You’re really brave!” shouts one student, as Mr. Manus braces for another potato missile.
Mr. Manus and Dr. Stark, a biology professor from IIT, have been Science Alliance partners for more than 20 years, hence the high level of trust! This air pressure lesson was just one of the multiple sessions in the team’s Science Alliance residency.
