The excitement is growing as the OPEF VEX teams that qualified for the State Championship put the finishing touches on their robots! A total of six teams qualified for the new Illinois VEX Robotics State Championship, which will be held in Batavia, Illinois on Saturday, March 8.
The OPEF VEX Robotics teams are:
Brooks Team 7183J – The Purple Mudcrabs of Death
Julian Team 7480A – Lost in Pink
Julian Team 7480B – Neonderthal
Julian Team 7480C – Serious Black
Julian Team 7480E – Gold Rush
Julian Team 7480N – Blue Fire
The huge growth in middle school VEX robotics in Illinois–in which OPEF VEX Robotics has had a big role–is reflected in the participants at state this year. Half of the teams at the State Championship will be middle schools. Six award-winning teams from the Illinois State Championship will qualify for the VEX Robotics World Championship in Anaheim, California in April.
