Spoken Word

We are thrilled to announce that nearly a year after we had to put our in-person Spoken Word club on hold, we can now invite students back for a spring season of creativity and self-expression.

WHAT: Spoken Word Club

WHO: Students from both Brooks and Julian Middle School (Hybrid and Remote students are all eligible) – 20 students per session.

WHEN: Every Tuesday, 4:00-5:30, March 16-June 1 (including Spring Break)

WHERE: Oak Park Arts League, 720 Chicago Ave (students are responsible for providing their own transportation)

The Club will meet in person every Tuesday, starting March 16 (including Spring Break week of March 30) and will be led by our poet-artist mo Santiago and at least one other OPEF staff member or D97 teacher. We can accommodate 20 poets from both middle schools to start, in socially distanced spaces inside the gallery and in the courtyard outside. All COVID protocols, including masks and social distancing will be followed.

Our intention is to open up more spaces as COVID guidelines (and the weather) allows.

Advanced registration is required. To join us please register here.
