Please join our poet-artist Miss Mo and teachers/club sponsors John Colucci and Miles Lee as they share stories, take quiet time to write and reflect, and “perform” their poems (and some songs) about their experiences during this extraordinary time of crisis and remote learning. in a typical meeting, about 10 to 15 students join the group discussion, and the write off a common prompt shared before the meeting.
One Julian student, Mackenzie, read her poem and asked her peers for feedback. Here is an excerpt:
I listen to the whispers of my room and the drip, drip, drip of the faucet.
I see old friends I haven’t seen since I was four.
Running a race around my house against what I now see as just me.
I sing to the bounce of my ball hitting the pavement over and over.
I walk the fine line between lonely and alone.
