
On Friday, March 18, the Brooks and Julian Spoken Word club members will perform original poems for an audience of family, friends, and supporters at the first annual “Respect the Mic: The 2016 OPEF Spoken Word Poetry Slam.” Doors open at 6:00 PM, and the evening will end at 8:30 PM.
A stellar lineup of students from D97’s own Julian and Brooks middle schools will compete by performing original individual poems. The evening will also include bonus group piece performances and special guest performers and judges. This exciting night will be emceed by talented Chicago spoken word poet, D97 alum, and OPEF teaching artist Dan “Sully” Sullivan.The performance will occur at the Oak Park School of Rock, 219 Lake Street in Oak Park.
