OPEF welcomes Kevin Berger, Kristi Braun, Steve Olson, and Griffin Waterman, to the VEX Robotics staff!
“We’re so excited about the new staff joining VEX Robotics this year! They bring with them a wealth of expertise that will help us provide even more exciting experiences for our kids,” said Mary Beth Hausken, VEX Robotics Coordinator.
Below are brief bios of the exciting new additions:
Kevin Berger, Julian VEX Robotics Coach
Kevin, an eighth-grade language arts teacher at Julian since 1999, has been a dedicated volunteer for the Battle of the Bots Tournament.
Kristi Braun, VEX Robotics Assistant Event Coordinator
Kristi became an active Brooks VEX Robotics team volunteer when her daughter joined the program four years ago. Kristi’s experience includes 16 years of sales, business and product development in the financial services industry.
Steve Olson, Brooks VEX Robotics Coach
Steve, who served as a judge for the OPEF Battle of the Bots in 2016, currently works at both Julian and Brooks middle schools teaching Design and Modeling, Robotics, and Electronics. He taught with the Project Lead the Way Program at his previous school and comes to us with 3 years of expertise with VEX Robotics.
Griffin Waterman, Brooks VEX Robotics Coach
Griffin has worked in special education at various schools throughout District 97 since 2013. During this time, he has been involved with Best Buddies, Special Olympics, and OPEF’s BASE Camp as a LEGO Engineering teacher.
